Reverse Heart Blockage without Surgery

Heart blockage is called Coronary-Artery-Disease in medical terms. It is commonly caused by plaque deposition inside the walls of blood vessels that supply blood to the heart. This usually develops gradually over many years. Hence, the symptoms come into notice when there is a significant blockage in the heart.

The symptoms include shortness of breath, chest pain, heart attack, abnormal perspiration, irregular heartbeats, etc. Primarily, the most commonly used treatment includes Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery which is a Bypass Surgery.

But Can you fix your heart without Bypass Surgery?

There are heart-blockage treatments without surgery. These fall under non-invasive heart treatment or non-surgery heart treatment.

  • ESMR (Extracorporeal shockwave myocardial Revascularization) is a non-invasive technology. To restore cardiac function, this treatment forms new natural blood vessels which improve the oxygenated blood supply to the affected portion of the heart.
  • Chelation Therapy is a technique that uses chemical processes for the removal of toxic metals and minerals from your body. EDTA or (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid) is used for the detoxification of the body. The EDTA solution is injected into the patient’s body and this binds with the calcium plaques that cause blockage of the coronary arteries, hence improving the blood flow. This may reverse heart blockage without surgery but when it is at a very initial stage.
  • Medicines – Few commonly used medicines like Aspirin and other antiplatelet medicines such as clopidogrel or prasugrel help prevent blood clots from forming. Beta-blockers and angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors lower blood pressure. Lowering blood-pressure decreases the force against which the heart has to work. Beta-blockers also assist in controlling irregular heartbeats. They promote stronger pumping of the heart and relieve chest pain. Statins lower blood cholesterol, helping prevent clogged arteries. Nitroglycerin or nitrates help ease chest pain. These medicines dilate the arteries to get better blood flow to the heart muscle. This prevents more injury or damage to the muscles. Can these medications cure heart blockage? Only your doctor can assess and conclude.
  • Electrophysiology – Electrophysiology labs are designed to help physicians treat patients with electrical problems of the heart, including atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias. Using cardiac mapping, electrophysiologists identify the cause of the irregular heartbeat and often correct the problem using this procedure rectifying electrical conduction problems that cause abnormally fast heart rates.
  • A few basic lifestyle changes can help in preventing a heart attack like Regular exercise or Managing Emotional stress. Excessive stress leads to constriction of blood vessels and may also increase blood pressure. Smoking is a major obstacle to recovering from heart diseases. Dietary changes – We must eat foods that are low in saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, and sodium. Increasing the number of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains and including fish or fish oil capsules in daily diet helps. Weight management is important especially if you are obese or overweight.
  • Garlic is consumed to treat high blood pressure, low blood pressure, and high cholesterol. Garlic also helps in restricting the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases. Flax seeds are mainly composed of phytosterols, omega-3, and lignans, all of which help in boosting heart health.

Natural bypass surgery is done through a long incision in the chest. A Non-Invasive Bypass Surgery (also called Keyhole Surgery) is one surgery technique in treating heart diseases. This is performed by making small keyhole-sized incisions in the body (instead of the larger incisions in conventional surgery).

Bypass Surgery without intervention can be done through angioplasty. During this procedure, a cardiologist threads a balloon-tipped catheter to the site of the narrowed or blocked artery and then inflates the balloon to open the vessel. Vascular stenting is performed at the same time as angioplasty. This procedure involves placing a small, wire mesh tube called a stent into the newly opened artery. Stents are permanent, used to help keep the artery open and clear.
